CPR saves lives!

Starting CPR within 4-6 minutes can bring a person out of cardiac arrest without any

At South Montgomery County Fire Department, we can help you save a life by teaching you CPR and preparing you for the worst. We teach American Heart Association classes which, upon completion, earns you a certification card good for 2 years.

Expert training and affordable. If you need training in First Aid, CPR, and AED or you just want to know how to keep your loved ones safe, the South Montgomery County Fire Department has great instructors. Through our simulation learning, we offer you the flexibility and convenience to provide you training.

Why Take A CPR Class?

Cardiac arrests are more common than you think, and they can happen to anyone at any time

  • Knowledge of CPR will give you the ability to save a life.
  • Nearly 383,000 out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrests occur annually, and 88 percent of cardiac arrests occur at home.
  • Many victims appear healthy with no known heart disease or other risk factors.
  • Sudden cardiac arrest is not the same as a heart attack.
  • Sudden cardiac arrest occurs when electrical impulses in the heart become rapid or chaotic, which causes the heart to suddenly stop beating.
  • A heart attack occurs when the blood supply to part of the heart muscle is blocked. A heart attack may cause cardiac arrest.

What is an AED?

The AED is a device that provides an electrical shock to someone in cardiac arrest. Studies show effective CPR and the rapid use of an AED can greatly increase the chance of survival. AED’s can be found in many public places and are responsible for the help in saving many lives
